I'm Hayley Donigan, a travel writer based in London

I provide freelance content marketing services to travel brands while making my way around the world.

From California to the UK (and beyond)

People always ask, "Why did you leave California for the UK?"

In 2010, I moved to England to broaden my horizons, and it was the best decision I've ever made.

Europe became my springboard, allowing me to embrace life as a 'flexpat'—living between countries and working remotely as much as possible. Also known as a part-time digital nomad.

For over a decade, I’ve balanced travel and work, exploring more than 20 countries. I embrace slow travel and have a soft spot for revisiting the locations I've fallen in love with—there’s something special about knowing a place deeply.

Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to work with diverse brands in hospitality, property, tech, and, of course, travel.

Why I became a freelance travel writer

It wasn’t a straightforward journey. In the early days, I worked in-house, dreaming of more flexibility and creative freedom.

My passion for travel and my love of storytelling ultimately pushed me to take the leap into freelancing—and I’ve never looked back.

As a travel writer, I aim to help brands connect with the digitally-native millennial audience—people like me who rely on online content for inspiration and planning.

Whether it’s extending a trip after a wedding in Italy or jumping on a last-minute flight when a deal pops up, I understand the millennial traveller mindset because I live it.

What makes me different?

My experience as both a traveller and a content creator gives me a unique perspective.

I understand modern travellers' desires and pain points, which allows me to craft authentic content that resonates.

I’ve worked with leading brands across the globe, creating authentic, high-quality content that speaks directly to travellers who crave something more than the typical cookie-cutter experience.

I also bring my content marketing background into all my work.

Why I love what I do

As a travel industry content writer, I help brands become more than just names—they become trusted voices in a crowded industry.

The digital landscape constantly evolves, and I thrive on finding new ways to help my clients connect with millennial travellers through storytelling, authenticity, and fresh ideas.
